Huddersfield Rapidplay - 2008

This years sponsorship from  Huddersfield Central Lodge ensured that we had another successful tournament.

The Open section was particularly strong this year with Nigel Davies GM sharing first place with last years champion, Richard Palliser IM. The Major section was dominated by Aref Vasli and the Minor by James Bowler who was the only entrant winning all six games.

Huddersfield Blitz Tournament

Huddersfield is seriously looking at hosting a blitz tournament in the near future which would be a 12 round tournament - we would be interested to hear from you if you would be interested in such a tournament - click here to email us with your thoughts.

Huddersfield Congress - 2009

In previous years we have tried to keep our event away from everyone else’s to avoid clashes but it has never worked out so we are aiming to keep the event to be the last weekend in March unless this weekend is Easter. So next years congress is scheduled for 27th-29th March 2009 at the same venue of the Ukrainian Club. We are also looking at re-introducing the Inter section to try and attract more entries - for some reason we always get 100+ but never more than 120. The 2009 congress will be our 7th successive congress started to celebrate the club’s 150th anniversary back in 2003.
